AWS to Launch Cloud Infrastructure Region in Taiwan by Early 2025

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is set to launch an AWS cloud infrastructure Region in Taiwan by early 2025. This new AWS Asia Pacific (Taipei) Region will provide local and international customers – including developers, startups, enterprises, and various organizations – with the ability to run applications and securely store content within Taiwan. AWS plans to invest billions of dollars in Taiwan over the next 15 years, underscoring its long-term commitment to the regionPrasad Kalyanaraman, AWS’s Vice President of Infrastructure Services, highlighted that the new AWS Region will enable customers to harness AWS technologies such as compute, storage, databases, analytics, machine learning, and AI to foster innovation and improve service delivery with reduced latency.Taiwan’s Premier, Mr. Jung-tai Cho, expressed appreciation for AWS’s diverse cloud services, emphasizing Taiwan’s strong industrial clusters, particularly in semiconductors and ICT. He expects the new AWS Region to enhance industry growth, create high-quality jobs, and support sustainable development. The Taipei Region will feature three Availability Zones, adding to AWS’s extensive global cloud infrastructure. These cloud infrastructure zones would ensure business continuity and low latency, each with independent power, cooling, and security, connected through ultra-low-latency networks. This setup allows high availability for applications using multiple zones.Analytics, AI, IoT, ML, StorageAWS’s extensive cloud service portfolio spans analytics, AI, IoT, machine learning, mobile services, storage, and more. The new AWS Region will cater to customers needing data residency in Taiwan, offering secure content storage and lower latency. The AWS Partner Network (APN), which includes over 130,000 partners worldwide, will benefit from the new region. AWS partners in Taiwan, such as CKmates, eCloudvalley Digital Technology Group, Going Cloud Co., Ltd., MetaAge Corporation, Netron Ltd., and Nextlink Technology, are expected to leverage this development to provide advanced solutions and services to their clients. This major investment being made by AWS in Taiwan’s digital infrastructure is intended to improve cloud service capabilities, promote industrial expansion, and foster innovation in a number of Asia Pacific areas.
