Penta Infra, a European ‘core and edge’ data center operator delivering sustainable, carrier-neutral and compliant data center colocation solutions, has acquired the newly-built Nexus data center campus in Brussels, Belgium. This acquisition, announced alongside lead investor Photon Capital, marks a significant expansion of Penta Infra’s presence across 11 cities and five countries. The Nexus data center, located in the Green Energy Park in Zellik, northwest Brussels, opened last month. The nine-storey facility, designed with input from the Vrije Universiteit Brussels and the Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussels, boasts 7.2 MW of IT load from a 12.5 MVA renewable power feed. Covering 10,000 square meters, it includes medium, high, and extreme power-density modules and will host the VSC Flemish Supercomputer.This data center would stand out for its sustainability. It operates on 100% renewable energy, features optimized PUE design, a photovoltaic facade generating up to 0.5 MW, rainwater recuperation for cooling, and a thermal smart grid for heat reuse. It has achieved BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, EDGE Advanced status, and Uptime Institute Tier III certification for Design and Operational Sustainability.
